20 hours per week Reports to: Fr.Jan Summary:
The Sacristan will minister to all the major liturgies of St. Anthony Claret Church. He/she will prepare, maintain, and inventory those objects necessary for each liturgical event as well as facilitate and welcome other ministers participating. Maintain the Church Complex a. Supervise volunteers in regular cleaning of church building except those areas maintained by the janitor. b. Inventory all cleaning supplies; fill out a purchase order for any needed supplies. c. Fill out a work request whenever necessary. d. Maintain bathrooms and refill supplies as needed in between Sunday liturgies. Inventory of Sacristy a. Set up and supervise the regular replenishment of materials like wine, bread, and candles. b. Procure annual items like palms and paschal candles. c. Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of vestments (to include altar server robes), vessels and altar linens as necessary. Replacement of such items will be discussed with the Pastor. d. Sign out hosts for Eucharistic Ministers who are authorized by the Pastoral Care Ministry and on their current list. Maintain Images and Decorations a. Plan and care for flowers or other seasonal decorations. b. Attend funerals and other special liturgies as assigned and their rehearsals. c. Refill candle stands and empty money boxes and put in the church safe. Minister at Major Liturgies a. Be present at each given liturgy to ensure proper flow of work. b. Open and close facilities during the week and on weekends. c. Set up appropriate objects that will be needed for the upcoming liturgy including the tabernacle key. d. Ensure that all objects are returned to their proper places after the liturgy. e. Set up and prepare everything for the Monday evening Holy Hour and Mass on a weekly basis. High School diploma required. The Sacristan must have the flexibility to work an irregular work schedule as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
