The Protestant Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) provides leadership, coordination, and administration of Protestant religious education and faith formation programs supporting Marine Corps Base Quantico. Working under the direction of the Protestant Chaplain and Command Chaplain, the CRE develops and manages educational programs for children, youth, and families while supporting the spiritual development of the Protestant faith community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Religious Education Program Management Develop and implement annual Protestant religious education programs for Pre-K through Grade 12 Create annual educational plans, schedules, and curriculum recommendations Coordinate registration and maintain accurate student rosters Maintain attendance records and prepare annual reports and program assessments Coordinate annual calendars, educational activities, and faith formation initiatives Children's Ministry & Educational Programs Coordinate Sunday School and children's church programming Support weekly Bible studies and educational activities Plan and coordinate annual Awana Club programming Develop age-appropriate Christ-centered educational experiences Support chapel-wide youth ministry initiatives and special events Volunteer Recruitment & Development Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer teachers and classroom assistants Ensure volunteers complete background checks and required training Provide teaching resources and instructional support Assist volunteers in presenting age-appropriate Christ-centered curriculum Vacation Bible School Coordination Coordinate with the Roman Catholic CRE to plan and execute annual Vacation Bible School programs Recruit and manage volunteers Coordinate curriculum, registration, activities, logistics, and family communications Support chapel-wide outreach and community engagement initiatives Community Engagement Promote educational opportunities within the Protestant faith community Communicate with families regarding schedules, classes, and events Support chapel advisory groups and educational planning efforts Collaborate with chaplains and ministry leaders to enhance faith formation programs Required Qualifications Active member of the Protestant faith community Broad understanding of Protestant denominations and Christian education principles Experience teaching, coordinating, or managing religious education programs Experience working with children, youth, and families Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint Ability to pass all required background investigations and installation access requirements Preferred Qualifications Previous experience supporting military chapel programs Experience with Awana, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, or youth ministry programs Experience coordinating volunteers and educational programs Experience working within diverse Protestant faith traditions Experience supporting military families Work Schedule Flexible schedule coordinated with the Protestant Chaplain and Command Chaplain Regular Sunday support required Academic year programming typically runs September through June Additional hours required for Awana, Vacation Bible School, retreats, and special events Work Environment Primarily performed at Marine Corps Base Quantico Chapel, Chapel Annex, and Education Building Frequent interaction with military families, volunteers, chaplains, and chapel leadership Collaborative ministry environment supporting military personnel and their families Professional Standards The Protestant CRE must: Demonstrate Christian leadership and professionalism Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards Exercise sound judgment when working with military families Comply with all DoD and chapel policies Foster an inclusive and Christ-centered learning environment
