POSITION PURPOSE
Parish Family 52 is a family of three Catholic Parishes in the Archdiocese of Seattle, Prince of Peace Belfair, St Gabriel Port Orchard, and St Nicholas Gig Harbor. Under the leadership of the pastor, the Director of Religious Education shepherds the overall vision of Parish Family 52 to "make holy disciples" They do this through leading the new Faith Formation Department, which is responsible for creating, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive parish family-wide strategy for faith formation, sacramental prep, OCIA, outreach, social justice, and evangelization within the entire parish family. This plan will include a series of both staff led and volunteer lead ministries. The Director of Religious Education will have strategic over-site of all of these ministries.
MAJOR DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES
1.Assists the pastor in creating and executing a cohesive vision for faith formation (adult and youth), sacramental prep, OCIA, outreach, social justice and evangelization in the parish family. During the Partners in the Gospel pastoral planning, special focus will be given to aligning programs across campuses and restructuring to create synergy. 2.Assures the development and implementation of annual plans for each of the areas listed above areas. 3.Supervises the parish family's PA for Faith Formation, the PA for Parish Life, the Director of Youth Ministry and the Hispanic Ministry Coordinator which constitute the Faith Formation Department. Defines staff deliverables and makes sure that staff efforts compliment those of the rest of the department. 4.Responsible for direct coordination of St. Nicholas sacramental preparation programs, religious education programs, and OCIA program. 5.Creates a healthy team culture of prayer and ongoing formation and supports the pastor in doing so for the Parish Family Leadership Team. 6.Works with the Director of Youth Ministry to ensure that the youth ministry program aligns with and compliments the overall direction of the parish family's faith formation. 7.Responsible for strategic over-site of the volunteer lead ministries, such as Knights of Columbus, St Vincent de Paul, Guilds etc. Ensures that these ministries align and compliment the overall mission of the parish family. Works to bring ministries together where makes sense across campuses. 8.Works with the Pastor to ensure that the vicar and deacons are effectively incorporated into the mission and direction of the parish. 9.Ensures adherence to Safe Environment policies in ministry. 10.Ensures that all pastoral ministries and activities are welcoming and engaging. 11.Ensures the budget is aligned to the pastoral priorities of the parish family, inpartnership with the pastor and director of operations. 12.Ensures outreach to those who are undeserved. 13.Other duties as assigned by the Pastor
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Primary:
Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the archbishop. Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in Support of the collaboration between lay and ordained ministers. Active member of a parish/faith community and in good standing with the Church. Strong desire to assist with the growth of the Church.
Education:
Undergraduate degree in ministry, theology or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
Seven years' experience in parish ministry and Church management is a plus. Ability to facilitate meetings, primarily among parishioners, councils, commissions and general public. Possess emotional intelligence skills and ability to build trust with the pastor and leadership team members and parishioners. Demonstrate understanding, respect and support of the Catholic Church teaching, mission and values. Experience with leadership, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Experience supervising an team leadership. Can be entrusted with highly confidential information.
Other Elements:
Desire to grow in personal faith life and enthusiasm for sharing the joy of the Gospel. Curiosity to learn and understand the many works of the Church in Western Washington and desire to apply professional skills to support further effectiveness of those efforts. Flexibility and emotional intelligence in working with small and large groups of different stakeholders in consensus decision-making scenarios. Strong working knowledge of, or strong willingness to learn, Catholic parish structures and organizations. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people, including multicultural communities. Willing and able to work evenings and weekends. Willing to attend Mass on each Campus and to be a bridge between communities. Bilingual - Spanish speaking Preferred.
