Job Description The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an
ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR I
to recruit, advise, and support prospective transfer students throughout the enrollment process. This position serves as a key representative of the institution and is responsible for building meaningful relationships with prospective undergraduate students, their families, and community college partners to advance UAB's transfer enrollment goals.
Responsibilities:
Recruit, advise, and support prospective transfer students throughout the admissions and enrollment process. Provide exceptional customer service and foster a welcoming, student centered experience that reflects UAB's mission and values. Develop and maintain relationships with community college partners, campus stakeholders, and external organizations to strengthen transfer pathways and recruitment efforts. Represent UAB at college fairs, community college visits, transfer recruitment events, campus programs, orientation initiatives, and select evening and weekend events. Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students and families by providing personalized guidance through phone, email, virtual, and in person communication regarding admissions requirements, application procedures, transfer credit evaluation, academic opportunities, and enrollment next steps. Manage assigned recruitment territories and develop strategic outreach plans to cultivate prospective student pipelines through data informed recruitment practices and communication strategies. Utilize customer relationship management (CRM) systems and enrollment data to track engagement, maintain communication campaigns, and support recruitment initiatives and enrollment goals. Plan, coordinate, and participate in recruitment programming while delivering presentations and facilitating information sessions for students, families, community partners, and campus constituents. Demonstrate a positive attitude and contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting colleagues, fostering workplace camaraderie, and promoting a culture of professionalism, inclusion, flexibility, and shared success. Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental operations, special initiatives, and evolving institutional needs. (
Hourly Rate:
$17.00 - $18.73) Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed with a Driver's License from the State of Alabama required.
