We're looking for an Admissions Counselor to join our team and serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking treatment. In this role, you'll guide new clients and their families through the admissions process, ensuring a smooth, supportive, and professional experience from the first phone call through intake. This position plays a vital role in helping individuals access life-changing care, and we're seeking someone who can balance empathy with strong organizational skills and clear communication. Key Responsibilities Manage incoming calls and inquiries related to admissions Conduct initial client screenings and gather required information Create and maintain accurate client records in our electronic systems Coordinate the physical intake process and guide clients through admissions Serve as a point of contact for clients, families, and referral sources Communicate client updates and concerns with clinical and leadership teams Send out utilization review emails and support insurance verification processes Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines Participate in aftercare planning and client transition support Actively collaborate with team members and leadership to improve processes
What We're Looking For Education & Experience:
At least 1 year of experience working in admissions or marketing in behavioral health. Familiarity with co-occurring disorders and the 12-step recovery model (Preferred)
Skills & Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational and time management abilities Comfortable working in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment Tech-savvy; able to use EMR systems (Kipu preferred) Team-oriented with a high level of professionalism and compassion Culturally sensitive and comfortable working with diverse populations Preferred Qualifications Registration with CCAPP, CAADE, or
CADTP CPR
& First Aid Certification (if position is on-site) Knowledge of Title 9 Licensing Regulations, DHCS AOD Certification Standards, and Joint Commission Standards Familiarity with confidentiality laws (HIPAA, State/Federal regulations)
