Job Description Admissions counselors serve a central mission of
Student Success and Enrollment:
to cultivate, recruit, evaluate, and yield an academically strong, talented, and diverse student body. Admissions counselors in the Office of Admissions recruit prospective students, counsel families about the college admissions process, conduct admissions interviews, evaluate applications, and advocate for students in our admissions committee process. Admissions counselors may also assist with developing campus programs and partnerships as assigned. Responsibilities General admissions counseling - Deliver presentations on Trinity and the admissions process, respond to email and phone inquiries, and support visitor programming. Recruitment travel - Plan and execute 6-8 weeks of annual recruitment travel. Coordinate visits to high schools and community organizations, off-campus interview programs and receptions, college fairs, and alumni events. Application review - Participate in the review of undergraduate admissions applications as assigned. Maintain expertise on education systems and schools in assigned territories. Serve as an advocate for students in assigned territories during selection committee meetings. Interview and counsel prospective students and their families on the Trinity admissions process. Cultivate strong professional relationships with secondary school counselors, community-based organizations, and independent educational consultants. Perform other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Strong analytical and organizational skills. Self-motivation with a history of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting. Skill in public speaking and/or making presentations. Ability to work independently as well as within a team Excellent human relations/customer service skills with the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with leadership, faculty, staff, students, prospective students and families and external stakeholders/constituencies. Solid knowledge of technological and data literacy. Ability and willingness to travel by car, plane, train, or boat as needed for recruitment travel. Must have a valid motor vehicle license. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and outreach activities.
