Job Description

As an assistant director of enrollment, you will build relationships with prospective students and their families via phone, email, social media, and handwritten correspondence. Each day, you will handle a large volume of incoming calls and emails from prospective students who have questions about admission policies and financial aid. You will keep a daily telephone appointment schedule through the Appointment PLUS scheduling system. You will also travel to college fairs, conferences, information sessions, and more — in compliance with NACAC guidelines — to effectively represent the university to prospective students and build professional and institutional relationships. Travel includes immediate-admission decision appointments, in-person meetings, accepted-student celebrations, and high school classroom or guidance office visits. Additionally, you will lead SCAD tours as needed to support the university visitation team. In this role, you will manage active applicant files and keep up to date on all university policies and procedures to effectively communicate accurate information. Proactive communication with applicants and admitted students, preferably by phone, is necessary to ensure the highest proportion of right-fit students complete the application process and fully understand the wide array of options and opportunities available at SCAD. You will encourage applicants to visit the university and meet with them and their families during their visit to discuss their interests and answer questions. Each day, you will cross-check admission reports to ensure data integrity, follow up with students who do not enroll, and decline files as needed. Responsibilities include the preparation of application files for the admission review committee and the maintenance of close working relationships with other internal offices to ensure a smooth and successful enrollment process. Among other duties, you will participate in phone-a-thons, LivePerson sessions, and online chat sessions to reach students at various points throughout the admission cycle. As an advocate for prospective students, you will encourage them to submit a portfolio and résumé, assist with electronic material for scholarship and admission review, and prepare transcripts and other academic documentation for transfer evaluation. Responsibilities include the operation of the management system to record and track applicant documents, individual contacts, and other pertinent information, and communications with potential students at specific intervals as required by the communication plan. You will serve as the primary financial aid contact for incoming students, assisting with all financial aid questions related to the federal aid process, budgeting, financial planning, and more. Additionally, you will participate in staff orientations each quarter and occasionally cover Saturday tour shifts for the admission team. The ideal candidate is an exceptional public speaker with advanced customer relations skills. They also demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
