Full Job Description Admissions Counselor Pay Range:
$40,000 - $45,000 per year The pay range listed reflects the anticipated base compensation for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, education, and internal equity.

Our commitment to employee well-being is reflected in our competitive benefits package located here: https://www.iit.edu/hr/benefits Position Summary Performs a variety of duties in the identification and recruitment of prospective undergraduate students from an assigned territory. Plans for and participates in promoting the university in a variety of ways using data analysis, marketing strategies and public relations skills; and frequently makes decisions by exercising discretion and independent judgment. This position will be an integral member of the team and assist in meeting enrollment goals as well as establishing and deepening relationships with campus community members, guidance counselors, placement offices, prospective student, parents and channel partners. This will include visits to local schools, universities, channel partners, and other recruitment and yield activities, both in-person and virtually. Extensive travel is required throughout the year, as well as weekend and evening work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Territory management Manages all aspects of recruitment for an assigned territory within Chicago, including developing and executing a strategic plan based on data analysis, historical trends, and institutional priorities. Cultivates relationships with high school counselors, community-based organizations, students, and families through school visits, college fairs, presentations, and individualized follow-up. Evaluates and adjusts recruitment strategies throughout the cycle to maximize effectiveness and meet enrollment goals. Public relations and outreach Leads and participates in outreach initiatives aimed at engaging prospective students, families, school counselors, and community organizations within their territory region. Plans and executes high-impact recruitment activities including school visits, college fairs, workshops, and on- and off-campus events. Maintains accurate records of engagement, analyzes application and yield data, and represents the university as a knowledgeable and professional resource. Application Review Evaluates undergraduate applications for admission in accordance with institutional policies and holistic review practices. Assesses academic records, personal essays, recommendation letters, and other supporting materials to determine admissibility and fit. Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders to increase awareness of the university's academic programs, resources, and admissions process. Tailors outreach strategies to meet the needs of diverse student populations and ensure alignment with institutional enrollment goals. General Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of undergraduate admission policies, enrollment goals, university programs, and the recruitment landscape. Maintains proficiency in the use of admissions and recruitment technologies, including CRM systems, to support data-driven decision-making and effective communication. Applies professional judgment while considering the context of each applicant's background and educational environment. Contributes to the overall success of the enrollment team by participating in special projects and performing additional duties as assigned, aligning all efforts with the mission and strategic goals of the university. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; 0-2 years' experience. Excellent public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Should be very organized, goal oriented, able to multi-task and possess good leadership skills. Knowledge of admission and recruitment software preferred. General knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, social media and presentation software highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment that at times can be fast paced. Excellent time management skills and flexibility to balance significant travel and in-office responsibilities.
