DESCRIPTION
The Admissions Counselor represents Southern University to prospective students and organizations and works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students. Partners with the Admissions Team to develop strategies and tactics designed to reach aggressive recruitment goals. The successful Admissions Counselor/Recruiter of Undergraduate Admissions exhibits superior supervisory, customer service, and professional skills throughout daily interactions and communications with students, including interviews, phone calls, emails, and information sessions. Assist in creating and implementing recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communications, and outreach to external individuals and groups. Must demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators, and staff. The Admissions Counselor reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and evaluate applications, including transcripts, test scores, essays, and recommendation letters. Participate in holistic decision-making as part of the admissions committee. Ensure accurate and timely data entry into admissions systems. Work closely with other departments, such as financial aid, housing, and academic advising, to provide a comprehensive experience for students Answer phone calls and respond to emails. Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. At least one (1) or more years of experience
