Dillon, Montana Examples of Duties and Responsibilities The Office of Admissions invites applications for an Admissions Representative I to join their team. This position will play a direct role in recruiting prospective students who wish to pursue an education at the University of Montana Western by disseminating information to students and their parents, high school teachers, and guidance counselors. The information is related to the admissions process at UMW including academic preparedness and other admissions requirements, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities and as given during campus visits, open houses, college fairs, high school visits and other UMW events.
Responsibilities include:
All aspects of the front-line customer service for the university to ensure that customer service is at a high level of excellence via phone call, email and/or text correspondence, or in-person communication. Extensive traveling to high schools, college fairs, conventions, expos, etc. primarily in the western United States during fall and spring recruitment seasons. These visits shall be evaluated annually to ensure that the resources are well spent in areas that yield the best prepared and most likely to enroll student populations. Providing one-on-one and group admissions counseling to diverse populations, including information about UMW's curriculum, admissions practices, financial aid, and other topics. Assist in developing, editing, and maintaining any needed admissions publications and website. Coordinate and conduct campus visits with the prospective students, parents, student groups, and the UMW staff and faculty. Perform computer functions including Microsoft Office, Banner, Slate, and other educational technologies utilized by the Office of Admissions. Assist prospective students through application and enrollment process. Initiate and maintain contact with prospective students by phone, email, and other forms of communication. Develop professional relationships with students, high school counselors, teachers, and industry partners. Represent the University both on- and off-campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Serve as a liaison between prospective students and academic departments, colleges and schools, admissions evaluations and others. Coordinate and contribute to the success of various programs, committees, initiatives and activities that impact recruitment at the University of Montana Western. Remain professional and effective while working independently and as part of a team. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree and/or related experience. Excellent customer service skills Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with prospective students and their families. Ability to speak knowledgably about Montana Western and answer questions about academic programs, financial aid, student life, etc. Effective public speaking and written communication skills with the ability to make presentations and represent the University of Montana Western in a professional manner in multiple cultural settings. Ability to coordinate large and small events. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet goals, and lead a project to completion. Demonstrated planning and decision-making skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Must be team focused and willing to collaborate with others in the office and across campus. Must have the ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain a pleasant demeanor. Must be willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends as needed. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Montana's Driver's License. Must have or be able to obtain a valid REAL ID/passport/passport card. Must be able to travel for extended periods of time. Preferred Bachelor's degree and two (2) years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in an admissions office. Working knowledge of the block schedule (Experience One), the environment of southwest Montana, and the majors offered at Montana Western. Class sizes are small and students take a single course at a time, three hours each day for 18 days, before moving on to the next course.
