Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the recruitment, counseling, and evaluation of prospective first-year students. Serving as a primary representative for UNC Charlotte, the employee facilitates the transition from high school to higher education by building relationships with students, their families, and school counselors. The role focuses on helping applicants determine institutional fit and fostering a sense of belonging within the university community through targeted outreach and transition support. The employee manages the full enrollment cycle, from initial recruitment and event participation to the final admissions decision. This includes providing expert guidance on academic programs and university policies to ensure students are well-informed throughout the process. Additionally, the employee exercises independent authority to conduct application reviews and to build an academically prepared incoming class. Counsel and advise prospective first-year and transfer students on admissions requirements, policies, and procedures on location or virtually, via phone and email. Render admissions decisions on applications, applying appropriate criteria, and using discernment and good judgment. Ability to plan recruitment events and conduct information sessions for prospective students. Travel extensively in North Carolina, occasionally out of state. Manage recruitment territory by conducting high school visits, attending college fairs, interacting with varying student and family populations, and developing relationships with high school counselors. Work non-traditional hours as needed.
Other Job Duties:
Will assist with targeted recruitment activities. Assist with planning admissions events. Minimum Experience /
Education:
Bachelor's degree; and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Program and project planning with experience giving presentations to large groups. Strong attention to detail while analyzing data, and the ability to make independent decisions. Ability to maintain a high level of customer service. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and representational communication skills; strong work ethic. Ability to travel in and out of state when needed. Professional-level proficiency in Spanish (written and verbal).
