Job Description

Job Summary:
Mercy University seeks a dynamic, energetic, and thoughtful individual to join our team at the Manhattan Campus as an Admissions Counselor for the Queens and Nassau area. The individual in this highly visible role is responsible for increasing awareness and building enthusiasm for Mercy University through student recruitment initiatives, outreach and communication, and specialized events. The Admissions Counselor will work primarily in the Queens Territory, developing partnerships with high school counselors and community-based organizations while generating inquiries from prospective students that convert to enrolled students. Local travel 50% of the time.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Required Skills & Experience:
Has passion for ensuring access to higher education Demonstrates strong communication skills, both oral and written Comfortable engaging and connecting with prospective students both in person and on the phone Experience giving presentations to prospective students, their families, advisors, counselors, and others in partnership organizations Motivated, with a sense of urgency to achieve individual, team, departmental, and University goals Exhibits tenacity and creativity in addressing and solving problems Team player who is just as excited to work collaboratively as autonomously Proficient in MS Office and Outlook, Banner, Slate and other software relevant and necessary to perform in a fast-paced admissions office Ability to travel locally on a daily basis and work occasional evenings and
Saturdays Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required
