We are inviting applications for a full-time Admissions Counselor for our Adult & Professional Studies Department. The position will be located in Rocky Mount, NC. Summary The Admissions Counselor is responsible for the strategic recruitment, consultative counseling, and application management of non-traditional adult undergraduate students. This role serves as a primary brand ambassador, driving institutional enrollment through regional relationship management, high-touch lead nurturing, and the execution of community outreach. The Admissions Counselor guides domestic and international applicants through the entire enrollment funnel, from initial inquiry to registration. This specific position is assigned to the Rocky Mount territory.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSBILITIES
:
Strategic Recruitment & Lead Conversion Funnel Management:
Utilize consultative "speed-to-lead" strategies to move prospects through the admissions funnel, ensuring a 24-hour response time for all inquiries via telephone, email, and personal contact.
Targeted Outreach:
Represent APS at community colleges, corporate partners, civic organizations, and professional conferences to build a sustainable pipeline of leads.
Engagement Events:
Lead on-campus and virtual information sessions, interviews, and orientation programs tailored to the specific concerns of adult and graduate learners, such as work-life balance and career ROI.
Strategic Networking:
Develop and implement networking strategies and events to generate new candidate leads for assigned programs.
Admissions Counseling & Academic Review Advising:
Guide students through the application process, providing expert advice on program requirements, documentation, and transfer credit guidelines.
Application Evaluation:
Review and evaluate graduate and undergraduate application files, including transcripts, recommendation letters, and statements of purpose.
Alternative Guidance:
Provide specialized guidance to applicants who do not currently meet admission requirements prior to a formal acceptance review.
Enrollment Operations & Administrative Accuracy Documentation:
Manage admissions communication processes and ensure all official documentation sent to the Registrar's office is complete and free of errors.
Liaison Services:
Act as a candidate liaison for financial aid, veteran services, and the business office to provide essential departmental information.
Systems Management:
Oversee communication workflows and system processes to ensure a seamless transition from applicant to registered student.
Data-Driven Reporting & Strategy Performance Metrics:
Provide weekly reporting on inquiries, application volume, and enrollment forecasts to administration.
Goal Alignment:
Meet or exceed new student enrollment goals for assigned programs to contribute to overall institutional growth.
Other Project Support:
Assist administration with various admissions and operational projects, as assigned.
Professional Development:
Continuously update personal knowledge on adult admissions, international enrollment industry trends, and best practices.
Team Participation:
Participate in team training and meetings to uphold the values and mission of the University.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
Prior experience in a non-traditional or adult higher education environment is highly preferred. Previous sales or consultative outreach experience is a significant plus.
Technical Skills:
Advanced computer literacy with experience in Jenzabar, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word), and virtual engagement tools (Zoom/MS Teams).
Communication:
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to present professionally to diverse public audiences.
PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Mobility:
Must possess a reliable personal vehicle for frequent local and occasional long-distance travel, including overnight stays and weekend recruitment periods.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and sit for long periods and lift up to 45 pounds for transporting recruitment materials and setting up events.
Work Setting:
Hybrid work environment available; however, the candidate must live within 2 hours of the Rocky Mount campus and be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Anticipated start date will be June 1, 2026.
