ADMISSIONS
COUNSELOR, Office of Admissions , to serve as an admissions officer, with a primary focus on supporting the MIT Educational Council, the network of alumni and alumnae volunteers who interview prospective students and support admissions outreach efforts. Will work under the direction of the director of the Educational Council (EC) to develop, manage, and support programs for the EC office, including enhancing the EC portal, coordinating communications with ECs via web, email, telephone, and social media; manage alumni/ae-student outreach programs including the annual spring Admitted Student Gatherings; support other admissions programs involving MIT alumni/ae as needed; review and select undergraduate applicants with a full admissions caseload and actively participate in the admissions selection committee; and perform other duties including several weeks of national and local travel to recruit students and meet with alumni/ae and assisting in other recruitment and yield activities as needed. Job Requirements
REQUIRED
: Bachelor's degree; excellent public speaking, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; the ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise good judgment, take initiative, and set priorities; and a driver's license.
PREFERRED
: A minimum of one year of experience in higher education; volunteer management experience; or experience with MIT. Regular evening and weekend work will be required during the academic year. Several weeks of air travel will also be required annually. Will be eligible to work a combination of in-office days and remote days each week. 5/28/2026
