Job Description
This posting will close at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Minimum Salary $35,355.47 Salary offer commensurate with education and related work experience. This is a Full-Time position that supports current and prospective students with admissions and general student services.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends. If a degree, certification or licensure is required, the provision of official transcripts , licensure and/or certifications must be received in the Office of Human Resources within (30) days of hire. Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency." All international credential evaluations must be conducted by one of the companies affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES®) in order to be considered for a faculty position. Applicants bear the responsibility of requesting, paying associated fees, and obtaining an original transcript evaluation for submission to the Office of Human Resources. Under the Guided Pathways Model, the Admissions Counselor provides direct services for enrollment, registration, financial aid, retention, recruitment, and general student services for new and prospective students.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include, but are not limited to the following. Provides enrollment case-management services for prospective students related to all aspects of the enrollment process Works with assigned caseloads of new students to determine their individual enrollment needs Determines the appropriate testing requirements for new students and provides testing referrals to the Testing Center Assists students with identifying test preparation materials and workshops Facilitates activities related to career exploration and guidance for new students Communicates degree plan information for all Alvin College degrees and certificate programs to new students Communicates developmental education requirements to new students Communicates available academic pathways to new students Assists students with completing the application for admissions Performs outreach and recruitment services for students who have expressed interest in attending Alvin College Transitions students to their assigned academic advisor and assist with scheduling advising appointments Releases departmental holds Determines need and makes referrals for academic advising, career and personal counseling Guides and directs students regarding course registration Processes Change of Major Program requests Accepts documentation and forms needed for admission and registration Serves as the primary information source for new students on campus Answers general information inquiries directed to the Welcome Center or via chat services Performs group presentations on or off campus to prospective students Assists with group advising sessions and New Student Orientation Must maintain knowledge of state regulations regarding residency, tuition exemptions and waivers, THECB policies that affect students, federal financial aid regulations, federal privacy laws Other duties as assignedWORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office with high energy and loud periods Employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to sit (for extended periods of time), talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related customer service experience Or equivalent combination of completed college courses and experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field Related certifications or continuing education training beyond the required education Two (2) years of experience in a directly related role at a community college or university Bilingual English/SpanishKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
