Position Qualifications:
MSW (Master of Social Work) from an accredited school of Social Work One (1) year experience in hospital or health-care setting. State of Alaska license at Master's level (LMSW) required or eligibility. Valid Alaska State driver's license is required. Basic knowledge of computer use. Prefer experience working in cross-cultural setting with bilingual language skills in English & Yup'ik. Ability to read, comprehend & write at the college level & effectively present information in one-on-one & group situations to patients/clients, agencies, communities, & other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply/divide in all units of measure, with whole numbers, common fractions, & decimals; compute rate, ratio, percent; draw/interpret bar graphs. Should be able to perform supervisory tasks when supervisor is away, work independently and in collaboration with other social worker. Facility Location Bethel is located west of Anchorage, Alaska and can only be accessed by water or air. It has a subarctic climate with long snowy cold winters and mild, short summers and is the main port and transportation hub for 56 villages in that area of Alaska. Annual events in Bethel include a Dogsled Race, a Fair in August and a Traditional Dance Festival in the Spring.
