Child Development Support Staff 950 Shelton Mill Road, Auburn, AL 36830 Full-time Full-time Thank you for your interest in joining ACHR. Our Child Development program includes Head Start, serving 250 children ages 3-5 and Early Head Start serving 160 children from birth through age 3. ACHR has 3 locations in Auburn, Opelika, and Hurtsboro, Alabama. Support staff are essential contributors to the overall effectiveness and quality of a Child Development program. They help maintain structured, supportive environment by assisting with daily operations, coordinating administrative tasks, and providing additional support in classrooms, family services, and mental health. Their work allows educators to focus on teaching while ensure that children and families experience well-organized, welcoming, and responsive program. Through their efforts, support staff help create the stability and continuity that are key to positive development outcomes.

10-15 Calendar Days Please review below the current job vacancies within our agency: Center Operations The Center Operations department in Head Start program is responsible for the overall management and daily functioning of program centers, ensuring that high-quality services are delivered in a safe, organized, and compliant environment. This department serves as the operational backbone of the program, supporting both staff and families by maintaining efficient, well-run centers. The department is led by the Center Operations Manager , who provides oversight of all center-based activities and ensures alignments with Head Start Program Performance Standards, licensing requirements, and organizational goals. Support this role is the Center & Education Assistant Manager , who helps coordinate daily operations and provides additional leadership and problem-solving support across sites. Center Operations also includes Center Operation Supervisors , who manager specific centers, monitor staff performance, and ensure that daily routines, safety procedures, and program expectations are consistently followed. Mentor Coaches work closely with the Education team, providing guidance, modeling best practices, and supporting continuous quality improvement in classroom instruction and interactions. In addition, the department oversees Bus Drivers and Bus Aides, who ensure safe and reliable transportation for children, while adhering to strict safety and compliance standards. The department also collaborates closely with and support the Education team, helping ensure classrooms are properly staffed, equipped, and functioning effectively to promote school readiness.

Center Operation Manager Education Requirement:
CDA or Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Family and Child Development, Human Development/Family Studies, or a closely related field, preferred.

No Vacancy Family & Home Engagement The department supports families in strengthening their involvement in their child's Early Head Start (EHS) and Head Start (HS) experience. Its work focuses on promoting family well‑being, improving home learning environments, and helping parents become confident advocates for their children to support educational success and child safety. Staff work with families to identify needs, set goals, access community resources and referrals, and promote engagement in child's development. The team ensures compliance with ACHR policies and procedures, Head Start Program Performance Standards, DHR regulations and laws, and ERSEA requirements. Staff are expected to demonstrate appropriate work habits, collaborate effectively as a team, support home-based and center‑based classrooms or other program areas as needed, maintain accurate records, and participate in trainings, staffing meetings, community engagement activities, and family‑engagement best practices. The department is led by the Family & Home Engagement Manager , who oversees the Supervisor, Family Service, and Home-Based Advocates to ensure families receive comprehensive, high‑quality support across all program options. The Manager and Supervisor provides training, mentorship, oversight, and direct support to staff, and ensures effective management of enrollment, case and crisis management, and documentation compliance.

No Vacancy Nutrition, Health, and Disabilities The Nutrition, Health, and Disabilities (NHD) department in a Head Start program ensures that children's physical health, nutritional needs, and developmental requirements are fully supported to promote school readiness and overall well-being. This department works to identify and address health concerns early, provide nutritious meals, and ensure children with disabilities receive appropriate services and support. The department is led by the Nutrition, Health, & Disabilities Manager , who oversees all aspects of health services, nutrition programming, and disability services. This role ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, coordinates integrated services, and provides leadership to staff across these focus areas. Supporting the Manager is the Supervisor , who helps manage daily operations within the department, monitors service delivery, supports staff performance, and ensures that health screenings, nutrition services, and disability plans are implemented effectively and on time. The Mental Health & Disabilities Advocate works directly with children, families, and staff to support children with developmental delays, disabilities, or behavioral/mental health concerns. This role helps coordinate evaluations, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), connects families to specialized services, and provides guidance to staff on supporting children's social-emotional and developmental needs.
