Survivors Healing, Advising and Dedicated to Empowerment (SHADE) has a mission to empower survivors of sexual exploitation, human trafficking and domestic violence and create economic opportunities, leadership development, provide a survivor voice missing from the mainstream and make systemic and community change. We provide several services, but our end goal is always to help other organizations develop safe spaces and guidance to help sexually exploited persons to transform their lives. We also work toward long-term solutions to the problem of domestic victims of human trafficking such as research, policy and training for professionals working with children.

The Program:

Bi-Lingual Family Support The Family Support Program (FSP) provides long-term, detailed services to individuals and families who have experienced human trafficking and/or domestic violence, past or present. The role of the bilingual Advocate is to support HT and DV clients and help empower client voices through a culturally relevant lens, including access to appropriate language support. The Advocate will perform in-person and remote meetings with multiple stake holders related to case coordination. Travel may be required around the bay area. Collaboration and networking with local, federal and community agencies will be essential to provide program participants access to various social, legal and other social services. Under supervision of the Director and Family Services Coordinator, the Advocate is responsible for providing an empowerment-based approach focused on trauma informed care to participants in SHADE programs. Some work is performed in an office environment; most work is in the field, with evenings and weekends when needed.

General Duties include:

Complete initial intake paperwork for new participants entering the program; after every referral call. Maintain Office hours, field hours and on call hours as assigned. Respond to referrals and hospital calls in-person within 30-60mins. (time is based on dispatched location) from receiving the call. Work with all levels of hospital/clinic staff as a team. comes FIRST. Access participants immediate, short- and long-term needs. Direct connection to resources based off assessment and with permission from participant. Maintains weekly contact with participants assigned and maintain program binder and document/ track all activities- input monthly data on excel spreadsheet. Maintain Progress reports, etc on all participants health and services. Initial follow up on outcomes with directed medical staff during the duration of participants stay at the hospital/clinic. Maintain progress notes, etc. and program participants files. Follow up report goes out to directed medical staff by the 7th day after participants exits the hospital/clinic. Follow all policy and procedures for the program. Prepare HOPE bags for the program, including preparing shopping list monthly. Provide ongoing support and resources to participants referred and or actively in program. Follow up with program participants to inform them of activities and resources to engage. Support the development of the programs vision. Attend Monthly Learning Circles with Hospital Champions- as assigned. Co- Facilitate outreach trainings and other events as assigned. Communicates relevant information and needs between participants and Hospital/clinic care staff Perform other duties as assigned by Family Support Program Coordinator and or Director. Attend and participate in program trainings, staff meetings, agency events and supervision with Supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• Minimum-High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) • Desirable-Bachelor's Degree in public health, social work, social sciences, human services and or 3 years of relevant work experience Experience Bi-Lingual English/Spanish a must . Mam speakers highly encouraged to apply Working with high-risk populations, cis, trans and non-binary person (s) Minimum of 2 year working with victims/survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence preferred Experience creating and building relationships with participants and community partners. Experience promoting healing centered and trauma informed engagement services. Possess an understanding of the dynamics of trauma-informed care, client-centered approaches Have an understanding of and be sensitive towards serving diverse populations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to be dependable and present Ability to multitask and regulate stressful environments. Knowledge of at-risk youth and commercial sexual exploitation Ability to have healthy boundaries working with program participants and staff Ability to respond to volatile person (s) in a positive and loving manner Ability to serve as a role model for person (s) involved in SHADE programs Ability to administer policies and procedures that ensures the safety and confidentiality of participants. Ability to develop positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and supervisors Ability to assume a leadership role in initiating needed trainings and activities. Ability to work with person (s) and accommodate the specific needs of individuals. Previous experience/training with sexual exploitation, domestic violence/teen dating violence and sexual assault. If this is a training, please provide your certificates. Experience and sensitivity in working with culturally and sexually diverse populations. Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills Computer programs (word, excel, power point, etc.) competence. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Additional Requirements Current drivers license and insured vehicle w/written proof, DMV driving record print out required. Background checks TB Clearance Hired staff will be required to complete trainings and obtain certification as a state certified sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking counselor within the first year of employment. Trainings are paid for through the agency!

Work Hours:

The position is up to 32 hours per week. The Advocate must be available to work some evenings and weekends and report on-call crises. Salary and Benefits Depends on experience. $25 to 27 an hour plus differential for additional language capacity Benefits and Leaves (including maternity leave) available to full-time staff only
