Job Description

Where You'll Work Mercy Medical Center Redding offers comprehensive health care to nearly 300,000 residents in a six-county region. It is one of only two Level II trauma centers, the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the only Joint Commission-certified Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center north of Sacramento north of Sacramento. Mercy Medical Center Redding is a 266-bed regional medical center providing inpatient and outpatient services as well as specialized cardiovascular care, stroke care, orthopedics, neurological surgery, comprehensive cancer care, maternity care, and a robust robotic surgery program. One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Social Worker, you will be a compassionate advocate, providing vital support and guidance to individuals and families facing complex challenges.

Every day, you will conduct psychosocial assessments, develop care plans, provide counseling and crisis intervention, and connect clients to resources. You'll advocate for clients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic support and promote well-being.

To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, empathy, strong knowledge of community resources, and proven crisis management abilities, fostering positive change and client empowerment. Performs [psycho-emotional-social/environmental assessments on patients Formulates plans for patients with social, emotional, and resource needs Provides interventions and counsels patients and families for emotional, social and resource issues Serves as the professional o the multi-disciplinary team that advocates for patient's perspective in planning care Maintains current clinical training and skills to provide competent care to:
  • Disadvantage, Disenfranchised and Vulnerable Patient's and Families

  • Traumatically Injured
  • Terminally Ill
  • End of Life situations

  • Substance Abuse Issues Manages caseload with timely response to referrals and high risk screening Job Requirements Required Master's Degree (M.
S.W.) from a School of Social work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education required at time of hire or within 6-months of employment One (1) year of clinical and/or medical social work experience required. The Employer may consider candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education in lieu of the one (1) year of clinical and/or medical social work experience if operational conditions exist Preferred Experience in an acute care hospital, upon hire
