Job Description

Position Summary:
After School Aide The After School Aide plays an essential role in supporting students during after-school programming by helping create a safe, engaging, and structured environment. Working under the supervision of the after-school program coordinator, site leader, or designated school staff, the After School Aide assists with homework help, enrichment activities, recreation, and positive behavior support. This position involves supervising students, facilitating group activities, ensuring safety during transitions, and reinforcing program expectations. The After School Aide may also support students with social, behavioral, or developmental needs as directed by supervising staff. Responsibilities include helping maintain a welcoming atmosphere, guiding students through daily routines, and fostering positive interactions among peers. Key Responsibilities + Supervise students during after-school hours to ensure safety, engagement, and positive behavior. + Assist students with homework, academic tasks, and enrichment activities as needed. + Support behavior management strategies and promote a respectful, inclusive environment. + Facilitate structured activities such as arts and crafts, games, recreational play, or group projects. + Monitor student transitions (arrival, snack time, outdoor play, pickup) to maintain program flow and safety. + Communicate effectively with program staff, teachers, and parents regarding student participation, behavior, and needs. + Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school and program policies, procedures, and professional standards. Minimum Requirements +
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. +
Experience:
Previous experience working with children (school, camp, childcare, or youth programs) preferred but not required. +
Professional Standards:
Must comply with all applicable school, district, and program policies. + Certifications (as required by site or district): + CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). + TB questionnaire, PPD test, or chest X-ray. + Current health certificate (if required by state regulation). +
Legal Requirements:
Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements for working in a school or youth program setting. +
Age:
Must be at least 18 years old.
