SCHOOL PUPIL TRANSPORTATION SAFETY COORDINATOR
$4,618.00 - $6,003.00 per Month New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties Conducts written and driving examinations for School Pupil Activity Bus (SPAB), School Bus, Youth Bus, General Public Para-transit Vehicle (GPPV), and Farm Labor, and issuance of temporary school bus certificates. Maintains current files and records of all certified driver's applications, certificates, and training records. Ensure applicants properly fill out the application portion of the California Special Driver Certificate (DL 45) and collect fees. Review all paperwork for accuracy. Fill out Applicant Discrepancy Identifier (CHP 295D) forms for any missing paperwork. Administer appropriate rules and regulations test and, if required, first aid examinations. Correct all tests, allow applicants to review test materials, and document results on the Special Certificate Application (CHP 295). Type all certificates and submit pink portion of DL 45 with fees to clerical. Record all DL 45 forms by number for tracking and auditing purposes. Fill out CHP 295 form upon successful completion of drive tests, document restrictions, and submit a portable document format (PDF) copy of the applicants permanent DL 45 certificate to Commercial Vehicle Section. Review all traffic collisions involving drivers with Special Driver's certificates. Generate letters for action to be taken if the Special Driver is at fault. Send copies to appropriate agencies and make log entries into collision record. Notify other School Bus officer when the driver is from other areas. Liaison with Department Motor Vehicle for certification problems and Driver Safety Review, if necessary. Schedule appointments with applicants and provide information to the public as needed. Check carrier records at least annually. Annually inspect School bus stops for exempt red lights (if applicable). Handle all suspensions, revocations, and actions involving Special Driver Certificates. Notify employers of action. Retrieve certificates when applicable. Attend school pupil related meetings. Attend workshops and driver training institutions. Perform other job related duties within the scope of the classification. Assist other areas with testing when available.
