Social Worker Intern Job Summary:
The Social Worker Intern provides mental health services to clients under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and the direction of the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Case Management. The Social Worker Intern will gain experience in aspects of social work practice, including crisis response, group therapy, case management, making resource referrals, and advocacy and support. The intern will work collaboratively and partner with the Department of Public Safety/Dispatch center, Residential Life, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and Health Promotion Services to support students primarily on campus. As an intern in the Division of Student Life, the Social Work Intern collaborates and cooperates to create leadership and intercultural competence opportunities to support student learning and development in the Jesuit Catholic tradition. The mission of Student Life is to fully support holistic student development within a social justice framework centered in preparing students to be caring, socially responsible citizens in our global and local community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
All duties and responsibilities described below will occur after normal working hours and on weekends Participates in clinical supervision and trainings with assigned LCSW Conducts in-person wellness checks and outreach for any residential student mental health related concerns, as well as some off-campus students in the office or via Zoom if needed Collaborates with Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Case Management, Case Manager, Department of Public Safety, Residence Life, and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and other units in Student Life to appropriately respond to mental health concerns Serves as University representative who accompanies student(s) to the hospital for emergency mental health care, as needed Documents and reports details on responses to cases for review by Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Case Management Provides group counseling and psychoeducation as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Case Management for residential students that may include, but not limited to, topics such as alcohol and other drugs (AOD), transition to college life, identifying and finding resources, stress management, and conflict management Collaborates with Health Promotion Services (HPS); Clip, Cut, Connect, Wellness Coaching, Stress Management and Road to Resilience programming. Assists Resident Directors (RD) with roommate mediation when requested Coordinates care with off-campus providers in consultation with the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Case Management and Case Manager Maintains primary resource list for students seeking mental health resources from off-campus providers Maintains log of daily activities and projects to be reviewed by Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Case Management Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Enrolled in a Master of Social Work (MSW) program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Good academic standing Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to providing culturally competent services Additional Information This is a part-time evening and weekend internship position.
