Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Housing Services Coordinator, reporting to the Vice President, is responsible for assisting shelter recipients in securing appropriate and stable housing. This role encompasses housing search assistance, landlord engagement, rental application support, and ongoing follow-up to cement landlord/renter relationships. The Coordinator will facilitate shared housing arrangements and serve as a mediator for habitation-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish trusting relationships with shelter recipients and prospective landlords. Conduct outreach activities to secure single- and multi-family housing opportunities. Assist recipients with housing searches, rental applications, lease agreements, and requisite forms. Coordinate with County and City public departments to support implementation of individual case plans. Connect recipients to appropriate housing resources, including Section 8 vouchers, public housing, subsidized programs, shared housing, and revolving loan funds. Liaise with public agencies to obtain funding assistance and household supplies for recipients. Maintain an up-to-date database of available housing opportunities. Verify recipients' continuing eligibility for shelter services. Identify community resources and establish partnerships with service providers; provide advocacy support as needed. Collaborate with shelter staff to develop coordinated, team-based responses to recipient needs. Participate in weekly house meetings with shelter recipients and staff. Maintain accurate files and records for each shelter recipient. Provide transportation to recipients as needed. Interact with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate of Arts degree in social sciences or a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in housing services or homelessness-related fields may substitute for the degree. Working knowledge of housing resources, homelessness, alcohol and drug addiction, and the criminal justice field.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Valid California Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record (required by date of hire). Valid Red Cross First Aid Training certificate. Ability to pass a background check. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure. Self-directed, motivated, resilient, and adaptable. Strategic thinker, problem solver, and accountable decision-maker. Comfortable addressing complex issues in public and community settings. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and integrated database applications.

Competitive Annual Salary:
$75,000 - $83,000 Medical / Health Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance 401(k) Retirement Plan Paid Time Off (PTO)
Physical Requirements:
Current TB test with negative results required. Must be in good physical and mental health to meet program demands. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
