Job Description:
School Social Worker Full time (1.0 FTE) Overall Responsibilities Staff members at Renaissance Secondary facilitate experiences for students in service of the school's mission: Through authentic, integrated learning experiences, Renaissance will empower students to become modern learners who are critical thinkers and problem solvers, communicators, collaborators, and creative innovators who contribute to the world around them. The school social worker works collaboratively with teachers and other team members to meet students' educational, social, and emotional needs through a variety of methods. Position Specific Information (if Applicable): Specific Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group services that emphasize improved educational performance to students experiencing mental health or social difficulties.
- Participate as a member of the IEP team
- Collaborate on developing individualized educational plans
- Provide collaborative consultation and documentation of results including assisting basic education staff with suggestions and implementation of MTSS, pre-referral intervention strategies, and providing recommendations and modifications to assist general education staff in working with special education students in the classroom setting
- Provide/participate in school wide activities
- Crisis intervention
- Consult with parents, teachers, and other appropriate staff regarding the child's program and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom
- Provide direct services through a variety of methods (e.g. classroom presentations, co-teaching in general education settings, in-services to staff, etc.) as needed
- Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information. Re-evaluate, as appropriate, to determine extent for progress and effectiveness of therapy
- Participate in the implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans as required
- Establish and monitor necessary services to students and work cooperatively to accomplish the goals of the IEP
- Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing special education programs. Requirements
- Colorado Special Service Provider License for School Social Worker
- MSW, including coursework in school and special education law
- Practicum, including one placement with school aged children
- ASWB Clinical, PLACE School Social Worker exam, or Colorado LCSW issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies
- Excellent interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:
Engage students as individuals with unique interests and strengths and promote student success at the student's developmental level. Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implement solutions. Serve as liaison between students, homes, schools, family services, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, and other contacts, to help children who face problems such as disabilities, abuse, or poverty. Provide assistance and or referrals for students, families, or staff regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, or medical care. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested Refer clients to community resources for services such as assessment services and how to apply. Support students through building the capacity of family members, other school staff, and community agencies. Support and establish a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students in order to alleviate barriers to learning. Counsel parents with concerns or problems, interviewing the child and family to determine whether further action is required. Respond to referrals and or reported cases from teachers, administrators, other school personnel, parents, students, self, and community agencies (Department of Human Services). Create, organize and update case history records and prepare reports, according to deadlines.
