Overview The Yale Child Abuse Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to supporting children and families affected by suspected abuse, exposure to violence, and other traumatic experiences. The clinic provides comprehensive forensic evaluations and forensic interviewing services for children when there are concerns of physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, or when a child has witnessed a violent event. These services incorporate clinical assessments to understand the child's functioning, identify needs, support safety planning, and inform recommendations for ongoing care and support. The clinic also provides social work services and support to children and families impacted by intimate partner violence (IPV). Services include trauma-informed clinical assessment, recommendations related to mental health treatment, safety planning, and community resources. The Yale Child Abuse Clinic operates within a multidisciplinary team model and collaborates closely with community partners including the Department of Children and Families (DCF), law enforcement, mental health providers, victim advocates, medical professionals, and other stakeholders to coordinate care, support child protection efforts, and promote positive outcomes for children and families. Through an integrated, family-centered, and trauma-informed approach, the clinic aims to provide comprehensive evaluation, advocacy, and support that promote child safety, healing, and long-term well-being. Plans, coordinates and provides social work services that include Forensic Interviews to patients and families dealing with child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse and exposure to violence. Collaborate with medical team in the development and evaluation of comprehensive psycho-social needs and recommendations. Participates on multi-disciplinary teams coordinating services for child victims of abuse.
Schedule:
Part-time - 24 hours per week. Mondays and Wednesdays are required, with flexible hours on the remaining days to accommodate clinic needs Required Skills and Abilities 1. Trained in CT's Forensic Interview Protocol. 2. Exceptional oral communication skills and exceptional attention to detail. 3. Exceptional organizational skills, including the effective use of computer tools for planning and tracking progress of cases associated with the program. 4. Excellent team player. 5. Strong interpersonal skills and proven track record of working collaboratively with a wide range of audiences and stakeholders. Preferred Skills and Abilities Social work experience in the field of child abuse. State of Connecticut Licensed Master Social Worker or Connecticut LMSW License eligible Principal Responsibilities 1. Completes psychosocial assessments, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments of both individuals and families and translates this information into medically necessary, multidisciplinary treatment plans. 2. Provides individual and group therapy consistent with evidence-based practice protocols for primary mental health, addiction, and co-occurring populations. Communicates with family, other disciplines and community agencies, as needed to ensure collaboration in treatment. 3. Provides clinical case management services, including referrals to appropriate levels of care. 4. Provides crisis intervention and clinical triage to facilitate necessary services, such as inpatient hospitalization, when indicated. 5. Determines membership and leads and facilitates psychotherapy groups. 6. Assists in determining appropriate circumstances for reintegration of patient into home and/or community. 7. Evaluates treatment progress and presents findings and recommendations at treatment team meetings. 8. Provides vocational, transitional, social adjustment, community living, and support services to patients. 9. Completes high quality, timely charting according to agency policies and procedures and payer requirements. 10. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Master's Degree in Social Work and one year of experience as a social worker in a psychiatric care setting or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
