Position Summary:
The High School Social Worker provides comprehensive social-emotional support to students within a faith-based educational environment. This role focuses on promoting student well-being, addressing mental health needs, and supporting academic success through counseling, crisis intervention, and collaboration with families, faculty, and community resources. Grounded in Catholic values and teachings, the Social Worker fosters a safe, inclusive, and compassionate school climate that respects the dignity of each individual. The position also integrates spiritual development with social-emotional care, helping students navigate personal challenges while encouraging moral growth, resilience, and service to others.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide short-term individual and group counseling to support student well-being
  • Respond to crises and coordinate appropriate interventions
  • Collaborate with faculty, parents, and community resources
  • Connect students and families to outside services as needed
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and values-based school environment
  • Support student growth in alignment with Catholic teachings
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and comply with guidelines
Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records and case documentation
  • Track student interventions, referrals, and progress
  • Comply with state licensure, school policies, and diocesan guidelines
  • Participate in student support team meetings and contribute to planning
  • Assist with program development and reporting (e.g., mental health initiatives)
  • Coordinate schedules for counseling sessions and follow-ups
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field
  • Current state licensure (e.g., LCSW or LMSW) or eligibility for licensure
  • Experience working with adolescents in a school or youth-serving setting
  • Knowledge of mental health practices, crisis intervention, and child development
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a Catholic or faith-based school setting
  • Familiarity with community mental health resources and systems
  • Experience leading prevention or wellness programs
Working Conditions:
  • Some evenings and weekends are required for community events
  • Participation in faculty meetings, liturgical celebrations, retreats, and community events expected.
