This opportunity requires a commitment to serve as a full-time employee for one full year, from August 10, 2026, to August 9, 2027.Position Overview:
Step into a role where every action creates a ripple. As a VISTA Member, you'll be the driving force behind building stronger, more resilient communities, elevating ONIC's capacity to deliver game-changing programs and resources. You'll build a community resource database from the ground up, forge powerful partnerships with local service providers, and lead volunteer engagement through recruitment, training, and program evaluation. This is more than an opportunity; it's a launching pad for your career and a lifeline for the residents who need it most.Responsibilities:
Build and maintain a powerful, user-friendly community resource database that puts critical services at residents' and staff's fingertips. Supercharge referral networks to dramatically expand resource availability and transform service delivery. Forge dynamic partnerships with local service providers to strengthen referral networks and unlock access to vital resources. Recruit, energize, and support a powerhouse volunteer force to amplify the reach of ONIC's community initiatives. Design a standout Volunteer Handbook, build robust training systems, and create sharp evaluation frameworks that drive real volunteer program results. Partner with ONIC's team to design smart management tools and systems that take organizational efficiency to the next level. Champion capacity-building efforts that supercharge ONIC's ability to deliver high-impact programs and services. Dig into ONIC's programs to ensure they're firing on all cylinders and truly meeting community needs. Ignite resident involvement in community programs, fueling participation, empowerment, and access to life-changing resources. Drive data collection, analysis, and reporting that powers smarter program decisions and proves the impact of ONIC's work. Build a résumé-defining skill set in community development, nonprofit management, and volunteer coordination—real experience that sets you apart.Required Skills and Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 18 years of age. Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 4 years of related experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required. Strong initiative, independent judgment, and follow-through capabilities. Relevant experience in nonprofit, community development, or social services preferred. Bilingual skills in Creole and/or Spanish are a plus. Reliable, punctual, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience with grant writing, curriculum development, and program procedures is a significant plus. Familiarity with assessment tools or IRS tax assistance is beneficial. A great sense of humor and a positive attitude required.Benefits:
