Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Developmental Support Specialist (DSS) is responsible for coordinating family services for assigned clients within the Healthy Beginnings system of care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, screening and assessment to determine program eligibility; parental education, and providing referrals and linkages to further assessment for families with children ages birth through age 2 within Palm Beach County. This position will provide services in the field and requires flexibility with daytime and evening hours to accommodate client schedules. Here's what the job involves: Conduct developmental screenings for children ages 0-2 during home and community visits, using approved assessment tools to identify developmental milestones and concerns. Partner with families by providing developmental activities, parenting education, safe sleep guidance, and home safety education that supports healthy child development. Connect families with early intervention, healthcare, and community resources by determining program eligibility, making referrals, and coordinating access to services. Build strong relationships with families, community partners, and service providers to ensure children receive ongoing support and timely follow-up through age two. Maintain accurate documentation, complete required reports, and enter program data in a timely manner while ensuring compliance with program standards and outcome measures. Participate in community outreach, networking events, trainings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives to expand access to services and enhance program effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services (preferably in a field such as social work, developmental psychology, and/or early childhood education). Bachelor's degree in a different field with a minimum of 2 years' experience with children and families. Minimum of two (2) years' experience in child welfare, primary prevention services, child development or related field. Schedule includes occasional evening and weekend hours as needed Must be 21 years or older Bilingual English/Spanish required. Valid Florida's driver's license is required.
