Job Description

Safe Harbor Children's Center is a long-term residential shelter serving up to 24 children, ages birth to 17, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Youth Care Worker (House Parent) to provide
OVERNIGHT
(FT) and WEEKEND (PT) supervision and support for youth in our residential care program. This vital role involves creating a safe, nurturing environment where young people can thrive, develop essential life skills, and feel valued. As a House Parent, you will serve as a positive role model, ensuring the well-being of residents through compassionate care, effective behavior management, and crisis intervention. Shift 1:
OVERNIGHT
(Friday-Saturday; 11PM-7AM) Shift 2: WEEKEND (Saturday-Sunday; 3PM-11PM) Duties Ensure the safety and basic care of all children in the shelter during your shift Supervise and monitor youth during overnight shifts and weekends to ensure safety and adherence to program rules Support children with personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, household chores, and homework Plan and lead recreational activities, games, and structured daily routines Provide transportation to school, appointments, and community activities using the shelter van Provide emotional support and guidance to residents, promoting positive behavior and conflict resolution Conduct regular safety checks, including security protocols and facility inspections Document incidents, behavioral observations, and progress through detailed data entry and case management records Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment Respond calmly and decisively to emergencies following established procedures Participate in staff meetings and required training Requirements Age 21+ and High School Diploma or GED (REQUIRED) Valid Georgia Driver's License with satisfactory driving history (REQUIRED) Must pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal history, and background check through DFCS (REQUIRED) Proven supervising experience in child or youth care settings, preferably with residential or home & community care experience Strong crisis intervention skills with the ability to de-escalate conflicts effectively Excellent communication skills for engaging with youth, families, staff, and external agencies Join us in making a meaningful difference by providing compassionate care that empowers youth to overcome challenges and build brighter futures. Pay:
$14.00 - $16.00 per hour
