Job Description
Position Summary The Youth Prevention Specialist provides trauma-informed advocacy, crisis intervention, and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence and their children across Circle of Hope's residential and community-based programs. This position supports safety, healing, and family stability through advocacy, child and youth services, prevention education, community collaboration, and participation in agency outreach and public awareness efforts. As part of the agency's broader response to domestic violence, this role helps strengthen protective factors for children and caregivers and supports prevention and early intervention efforts. Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, victim assistance, referrals, and support to families in shelter. Help make shelter admission decisions and coordinate transportation and service connections for residents. Support 24-hour hotline coverage, weekday shelter coverage, holiday rotations, and other shelter operations as needed. Deliver child and youth advocacy services that are safe, trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and confidential. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation, case notes, service records, and required data entry. Offer direct support, crisis intervention, regular check-ins, and age-appropriate guidance to children and youth affected by domestic violence. Participate in family assessments, case reviews, safety planning, and individualized service planning with staff and non-offending caregivers. Plan and lead educational, supportive, recreational, and weekly youth group activities that build coping, life, and prevention skills. Educate and support non-offending caregivers on child development, trauma, positive parenting, and non-violent discipline. Complete child and youth intakes, communicate regularly with parents, maintain safe activity spaces, and monitor children for concerns. Collaborate with schools, agencies, and community partners to support children's needs, educational stability, and access to services. Provide prevention education and represent the agency through school, community, outreach, and public awareness activities.
