Job Description

North Idaho College Head Start is seeking a community-focused Family Advocate in Post Falls dedicated to supporting children and families through high-quality family services. In this role, you will build meaningful relationships with families, conduct home visits, assist with family goal setting, provide referrals and crisis support, and connect families with community resources. You will also support recruitment and enrollment efforts, participate in classroom activities, facilitate parent meetings, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with staff and community partners to ensure comprehensive services for children and families. We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills who can work effectively with others. Successful candidates will demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, flexibility, and a positive approach to early childhood education, health, and family services. Candidates should be comfortable using computers and common software for communication, documentation, and data management while representing the Head Start program with professionalism and care. Minimum Qualifications Education:
Level I:
Associates degree in Social Services.
Level II:
Bachelors degree in Social Services.
Experience:
Experience as a staff or volunteer in a preschool classroom. Required License and/or
Certifications :
  • Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
  • Meet all training and certification requirements for childcare licensing and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
  • Pass an enhanced background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of computers and commonly used software for Internet and e-mail access, word processing and data collection and management.
  • Positive approach to Early Childhood Development programs, health and social services.
  • Demonstrated written, oral, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of theories of social work ethics, early childhood education and child and family development including family systems.
  • Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality.
  • Represent the Head Start program in the community and with other professionals, positively and with professionalism.
Starting pay range:
$20.50 - $21.87

69%

Post Falls Work Schedule:
August through June, full-time Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check and proof of degree if required for this position.
