This part-time position is designed for someone passionate about supporting students' academic success and fostering a positive learning environment. The Gear Up Coordinator will play a crucial role in implementing programs that encourage college readiness, enhance educational opportunities, and provide mentorship to students. This position is dependent upon continued grant funding. Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage after-school programs and activities that promote academic success and college readiness for middle school students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and community partners to create a supportive learning environment and ensure program alignment with school goals.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, tutoring sessions, and college exploration events for students and their families.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of student participation, program activities, and outcomes, and prepare reports as needed.
  • Serve as a mentor and advocate for students, providing guidance on academic and personal challenges.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and school administration to promote program initiatives and student achievements.
  • Stay informed about college readiness resources and best practices in education to enhance program effectiveness. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Previous experience working with middle school students or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for mentoring and supporting students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including students, parents, educators, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance program delivery and student engagement.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for program activities and events.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students.
