Job Description
JOB GOAL
Help students resolve such personal, emotional and social problems as they interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered themQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Master's in social work; certified social worker in the State of Idaho Meet state certification requirements At least two years prior experience in social work Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Desired Three years experience in school social workESSENTIAL DUTIES
(or other duties assigned by the Superintendent or Board). Perform casework service with individual students to correct those personal, social, or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress Perform casework service with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students, to increase the parents understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child's problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student's behavior Supervises the referral of students to, and serves as liaison with, such outside agencies as the Department of Health and Welfare, adolescent day treatment, juvenile court, and the like as appropriate Make home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a student's background Serve as liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary, as in welfare cases, foster home children, and disadvantaged students Assist students directly toward adjustment to school Keep sufficient records of cases for use by school staff members and outside agencies when appropriate Performs other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Superintendent and/or Board may deem necessary.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands and work environment indicated below are examples of the physical aspects this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. Persons performing service in this position classification will regularly exert 10 to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This type of work involves sitting most of the time, but will involve walking or standing for extended periods of time. Occasionally, physical requirements include the ability to navigate multi-story buildings during an emergency situation. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
