Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Make an immediate impact supporting students as a contract professional specializing in school-based counseling and social work services. This assignment offers the opportunity to serve a vibrant elementary school community near Arlington Heights, IL, working from September 9, 2026, through December 12, 2026. Use your skills to help children thrive by fostering their social and emotional well-being in a collaborative educational environment.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
State licensure in social work or counseling appropriate for elementary school settings Background working in schools or with elementary-age children Knowledge of effective behavioral and emotional support strategies Exceptional communication, active listening, and empathy Flexibility, resourcefulness, and the ability to work independently or within a team Comfortable with documentation, IEPs, and collaboration with educators and families
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling to students referred for social, emotional, or behavioral concerns Develop and implement social-emotional learning programs in coordination with school staff Assist in crisis intervention and prevention, collaborating with teachers, parents, and administration Participate in IEP and multidisciplinary meetings, providing input and documenting student progress Promote a positive and inclusive school culture through evidence-based interventions Foster strong relationships with students, staff, and families, serving as a trusted resource for mental health and wellness needs This contract role allows you to focus on meaningful, student-centered work without long-term commitment, offering professional growth and the satisfaction of making a difference.
