MISSION/VISION
Healthcare Alternative Systems (H.A.S.) provides a continuum of multicultural and bilingual (English/Spanish) behavioral care and social services that empower individuals, families, and communities. H.A.S. seeks to implement sustainable programs that benefit society by improving the well-being and recovery efforts of those individuals, families, and communities impacted by behavioral health problems. With eleven locations across the Chicagoland area, H.A.S. provides services and resources to individuals at every stage in their behavioral/recovery journey so that they can be successful and become contributing members of their communities.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Domestic Violence Advocate is responsible for providing direct services to victims/survivors of domestic violence
- this includes psycho-education, emotional support, and assistance with locating/utilizing resources. The DV Advocate may accompany victims/survivors to court. The Domestic Violence Advocate will also play a vital role in community outreach
- contacting organizations, such as criminal justice or social service agencies, to get help or information for victims.
The Domestic Violence Advocate will facilitate support groups, provide in-person counseling, case management, and crisis intervention.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provides individual advocacy and support/educational group sessions Provides services at various HAS locations as needed Provides case management, crisis intervention, and legal/court advocacy services as needed. Attends meetings of community partners and provide domestic violence presentations as needed. Be comfortable with building partnerships in the community and public speaking. . Maintains accurate records of activities and provides monthly/quarterly reports. Maintains professional status. Participates in regular staff meetings. Participates in agency fund-raising efforts. Performs other duties as assigned. EAP REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must have knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of Domestic Violence. Must speak and write fluently in English and Spanish and be comfortable providing counseling services in both languages. Knowledge of the cultural and social patterns of the population we serve. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including regular evening shifts. Must have above average written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge with MS Office Applications Must have a valid State Driver's License and willingness to use personal vehicle in course of employment, including the transport of program participants as needed. Will be crossed trained as needed H.A.S. requires all staff work on-site.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in a human services field, like social work, psychology or sociology from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval, is required. Completed Domestic Violence 40-hour Training is preferred. Must be willing to complete training during employment at
