In this vital role, you will serve as a key advocate for students' social, emotional, and behavioral well-being, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment. Your expertise will help address the diverse needs of children and adolescents, supporting their development and success both inside and outside the classroom. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives through proactive intervention, counseling, and collaboration with families, teachers, and community resources. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students to promote emotional resilience, social skills, and positive behavior. Conduct assessments to identify students' social or emotional challenges, including those related to special education needs or behavioral health issues. Develop and implement intervention plans that support students facing crises or behavioral difficulties, utilizing crisis management techniques and conflict resolution strategies. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and external agencies such as child protective services and child welfare organizations to coordinate support services. Assist in crisis intervention efforts during emergencies or behavioral incidents to ensure student safety and well-being. Advocate for students' needs by connecting families with community resources related to childcare, mental health services, or cultural diversity counseling. Maintain detailed documentation of counseling sessions, interventions, and case progress in compliance with school policies and confidentiality standards. Experience Proven experience working with children in educational or social service settings. Knowledge of child protective services protocols and child welfare procedures. Skilled in crisis intervention and crisis management techniques tailored for school environments. Background in behavioral health or mental health counseling with an understanding of special education requirements. Strong ability to manage conflicts effectively while demonstrating cultural sensitivity and inclusivity. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including teachers, administrators, families, and external agencies.
