JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the project coordinator will act as case manager for the children and families receiving services from the project. The vital task of assessment and determination of appropriate services will also be a part of this job, as well as the provision of direct services to children in need of specific developmental intervention. The Child Development Specialists will work with all members of the team, but will be in especially close contact with the Parent Advocate in planning for specific family needs.WORK DUTIES
Identifies and recruits families to participate in Prevention Project; conducts assessments and performs initial Intake on families; studies family's problems and needs by analysis of information secured from family and assists the family in establishing a relationship in which the parents can express feelings, attitudes and thinking, clarifying the situation and helping the family decide what can be done to address the problems or needs; making agency and community resources available through networking with representatives of other agencies; advocates for families in addressing special needs and problems; maintains ongoing Case Management Records for all families participating in the prevention project; participates in interagency staffing on cases; assist in development and provides support to Interagency Networking Committee; participates in agency and community staff development programs; completes all appropriate program evaluations and statistical forms; and does other related work as required.QUALIFICATIONS
An Associate's Degree in Social Work or Equivalent College Training and substantial experience in social work, special education or child development. Specific training in working with families at risk. Skills in comprehensive case management and home visiting. Good oral and written communication skills. Experience in accessing community resources. Will be trained as a certified Parent Educator using Parents as Teachers Curriculum. Must have an automobile with insurance and able to drive.Job Type:
