Student Support Services is a dedicated team of trained professionals that works alongside schools to meet the needs of the students and families in order to return them to the classroom full-time.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of local social service agencies. Knowledge of prevention strategies and treatment modalities. Background working with youth/families. Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL). Ability to read, write and speak Spanish is a plus Major Responsibilities Work under the direct supervision of a licensed teacher from the Student Support Services staff to implement student plans. Support a caseload of approximately 35 students, ensuring individualized support and consistent monitoring as directed by licensed staff. Implement Alternative Learning Opportunity Program (ALOP) procedures accurately, including obtaining consent, assisting in the development and monitoring of Student Success Plans (SSP), and documenting case notes. Conduct regular, in-person check-ins with each student on the caseload. Act as a liaison between family and school to support plans for students' academic and social-emotional success. Provide general academic support such as helping students stay organized, complete assigned work, build executive-functioning skills, and access tutoring or credit-recovery activities as directed by licensed school staff. Assist in implementing structured interventions and resources for student social-emotional development. Collaborate effectively with school staff to clarify roles and responsibilities aimed at improving student participation, performance, and overall success. Schedule, plan, and engage in family outreach visits and community engagement events. Maintain regular and supportive communication with parents/guardians focused on student progress and engagement, while disciplinary communications remain the responsibility of teachers and administrators. Monitor and track student attendance, behavior, and academic grades, providing this information to licensed staff to support interventions. Participate in meetings and assist in monitoring goals for Individual Optional Education Plans (IOEP) with students, families, schools, and other stakeholders. Maintain accurate and timely weekly case notes using the designated tracking software—submitted by Friday—including documentation of attendance, behavior, discipline, grades, family and student contact, meetings, outside service contact and home visits. Participate in the planning and coordination of student transportation when necessary. Respond effectively to student crises following established school policies. Co-facilitate or assist with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) sessions in collaboration with other staff. Support students' transitional needs, including career guidance and post-secondary exploration. Attend relevant court dates for students on the caseload. Participate in regular staff meetings, community groups, and additional program activities. Conduct home visits in rare circumstances to support student success, strengthen family engagement, and address barriers to educational progress, along with school personnel or attendance interventionists. Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Student Support Services.
