Position Purpose:
DuPage Children's Museum Learning Partnerships Department delivers joyful science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) learning experiences to children and families, both inside the museum and in the community. The vision of DuPage Children's Museum (DCM) is that all children thrive through access to extraordinary learning experiences. The Bilingual Early Learning Lead brings the vision of DCM to life through playful, engaging, learner-centered STEAM experiences in early learning settings for children (birth to age 5) and their primary caregivers. Programs may be delivered at DCM, early childcare centers, or community organizations, such as libraries. In addition to facilitating programming, the Bilingual Early Learning Lead will support the overall coordination of programming, including Museum PopUps, Bloom Together Playgroups, and Family Access Open House programs. The Lead will also serve as an active participant in various early learning collaboratives and will represent the museum at community events.
DCM's Early Learning Lead:
  • Plans and facilitates Museum PopUps, Bloom Together Playgroups, Family Access Open House events, Adaptive Play, and Professional Development
  • Support the facilitation of other programs as needed, such as Student Learning programs, community events, camps, etc.
  • Delivers education programming that is learner-centered, open-ended, and constructivist-based, in both English and Spanish.
  • Ensures all programs are grounded in effective practices for early learning.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of DCM's Learning Framework by utilizing Learning Through Play strategies and supporting the adult/child learning partnership.
  • Assists in the continuing improvement of existing programs and the development of new programs.
  • Assists in the training of new facilitators and volunteers.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, including the Student Learning team, Exhibits, Guest Relations, Guest Experiences, and program contacts.
  • Serves as a connection point between DCM and early childhood collaboratives and community networks.
  • Oversees the maintenance of accurate records regarding delivery, attendance, and evaluation of programs in Altru and other data tracking dashboards.
  • Ensures program evaluation tools are utilized consistently.
  • Updates program Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
  • Maintains materials used for programs and reports stock and maintenance needs appropriately.
  • Drives, loads and unloads materials, transports material, and adds gasoline to DCM vehicles.
May also use a personal or non-DCM vehicle for these purposes.
Job Relationships:
  • Supervised by the Director of Learning Partnerships.
  • Collaborates regularly with the Student Learning Team Lead.
  • Works closely with all other departments, especially the Student Learning Team and Guest Experience department to ensure effective communication occurs.
  • Maintain authentic and collaborative relationships with community partners.
Experience Requirements:
  • Experience and interest working with children (birth-age 5) and families required.
  • Degree in early childhood education, child and family studies, or other relevant background, such as volunteering or work experiences.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children in an early learning capacity, such as childcare, museum, or community-based organization.
  • Experience building collaborative and sustained relationships.
  • Experience and comfort working with communities and cultures that are diverse, dynamic, and ever-changing.
  • Experience maintaining program records and databases.
Required Qualifications:
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Engaging and responsive facilitator of educational programming.
  • Ability to work effectively with children and families in diverse learning environments.
  • Ability to create inclusive and safe learning experiences.
  • Comfortable adapting to new situations and different collaboration styles.
  • Must be curious, empathetic, and possess a growth mindset.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work offsite, independently, and take initiative to solve problems.
  • Ability to work with others in collaborative settings to improve and plan programs.
  • Must have computer skills involving, but not limited to, Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a valid Illinois driver's license and appropriate liability insurance.
  • Physical requirements include stooping, kneeling, bending, standing, squatting/crouching, pushing/pulling, reaching above the shoulders, climbing up and down stairs or using an elevator daily, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
DuPage Children's Museum (DCM) offers paid time off, an Employee Assistance Program, free family membership to the museum, and a 403b. For full time employees (those scheduled to work 30 hours or more per calendar week) in regular (nonseasonal) positions, DCM offers an extensive medical and ancillary benefit package to include:

  • Short Term Disability insurance through UnitedHealthcare. Benefits can be up to 60% of an employee's salary (limitations exist for some preexisting conditions) and may cover day eight through week 13 of missing work and income due to an injury or illness.
  • Group life insurance through UnitedHealthcare with a benefit of $25,000. This is an employee only coverage at no cost to the employee
  • Supplemental life insurance through UnitedHealthcare. Coverage options for self, spouse, and child(ren) with varying coverage options. Evidence of insurability required above enrollee guaranteed minimum.
  • Flexible Spending Account through Flexible Benefit Service LLC with medical, dependent care, transit, and parking enrollment options.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
