Your energetic leadership will ensure that all musical experiences are meaningful, inclusive, and aligned with our mission to enrich lives through music. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to blend creativity with leadership while making a positive impact on diverse audiences. The Music Coordinator is responsible for providing instruction in singing and theatrical activities to the assigned participants.
Responsibilities include:
Instruct the assigned participants in singing and musical artistic direction. And ensure their active engagement. The Development Dept. and Music Coordinator will work together to plan and set up singing engagement and opportunities for the participants, for example the annual Agency event. This position coordinates with their supervisors so that the participants are prepared for these events and activities. Must be available to go with the participants to the events. Is involved in coordinating and planning events with the support and coordination of the CDS Assistant Director and Program Manager who will help ensure that the correct people such as QIDP's and Home Managers are aware of performance schedules well in advance of the performances. Monitor's program participants during the activities. Maintains the behavioral expectations of the program for participants assigned for choir. This includes giving feedback when noise levels are too loud, assisting participants to remain focused on their singing and returning participants to their work units when the participants do not comply with directives. Prepares notification of the performance schedules and required attire to families well in advance of the performances. Qualifications High School diploma/GED. (Must provide acceptable documents) Experience in working with participants with developmental disabilities is preferred. Proven singing and artistic talents. Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License, ability to be insured under OL vehicle insurance, and be willing and able to drive an agency vehicle and the participants as needed. Must provide all required acceptable documentation at sign-up. Must have the ability to interact calmly and effectively with participants with intellectual/developmental disabilities and maintain professional relationships with all agency staff and management and outside contacts during community excursions. Must be able to pass the State mandated reading comprehension test, pre-employment screenings, physical with drug screen, TB test, background checks and required trainings.
