Job Description

Full-Time, Domestice Violence Family Centered Services, Counselor Position, Peoria location primarily, however Pekin location support at times may be needed. The Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA) is seeking a passionate individual to join our team as a Domestic Violence Counselor. Our mission at CFPA is to help all people - women, men, and children, live free from violence and abuse, and our domestic violence counselors help to bring that mission to life. The DV Counselor will provide advocacy services for families in the emergency shelter and outreach clients, including but not limited to accessing community resources, providing domestic violence education and children's exposure to domestic violence education, active listening and referrals for therapy, legal services, housing and jobs. They also will answer crisis hotline calls, provide shelter operational duties, data processing, and prepare paperwork for shelter and outreach clients. Preferred education of a associate's degree in education, social work, counseling, or related field. Must be passionate about CFPA's mission, work well independently and as a team, and have exceptional soft skills. CFPA is the only agency in the entire state sanctioned to provide its combined services of Domestic Violence, Sexual Abuse/Assault, Human Trafficking, Adult Protective Services, and Prevention Education under one roof. CFPA operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and all victim services are free and confidential.
