Child Welfare Specialist Primed for Life, Inc. - 3.3 Springfield, IL Job Details Full-time $54,400 a year 1 day ago Benefits Mileage reimbursement Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Flexible spending account Paid time off Employee assistance program Vision insurance Flexible schedule Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Computer operation Microsoft Outlook Social work Windows Microsoft Office Bachelor's degree Organizational skills Document viewing software Child welfare Full Job Description Position Overview This program is designed to offer services to families, reported to the Department, where the risk to the child is deemed low enough for short- term (an average of 30 days) involvement, but where some services are needed to assure that families can effectively utilize their own strengths and community resources to ensure the safety of their children and prevent future Department involvement. The services provides that when a report is made by a mandated reporter to the statewide toll-free telephone number established under the Act and there is a prior indicated report of abuse or neglect or a prior open service case involving any member of the household, the Department must, at a minimum, accept the report as a child welfare services referral. Requires a child protective services investigation if the family refuses to cooperate or refuses access to the home.
Job Duties:
Provide an assessment of the family for service needs and linkage to available local community resources for the purpose of preventing or remedying or assisting in the solution of problems which may result in neglect or abuse to a child. Verification of families' linkage to community services and resources to include documentation that the family has received information and support to connect with the services and resources, recognizing that in some instances the CWS provider may not be able to keep the CWS pending while the family waits to begin service. Ensure the safety and well-being of involved children while services are being delivered. Enable families to resolve minor to moderate challenges and needs that contribute to risk to children. Equip families to effectively utilize their own strengths and community resources to ensure the safety of their children. Weekly home visits are required for the duration of the intake evaluation, by Child Welfare Services workers to assess family situation focusing on safety and risk issues related to the child. Direct intervention to help reduce risk and teach strategies for avoiding risk in the future. Performs other tasks as requested, by the Program Manager.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have strong communication skills (verbal and written) in a professional setting. Must have thorough knowledge of computer skills for Microsoft Windows, Outlook, One Drive, Adobe, and the ability to master other software used by the Center. Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to complete tasks in a timely way. Must have experience with diverse populations. Must be able to work independently and in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work as part of a coordinated team. Must be able to multi-task at a high level. Must be a self-starter and take the initiative.

Bachelor's degree required Reliable transportation Automobile insurance Excellent communication skills and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to multi-task. Experience with Google Microsoft office software Familiar with Microsoft outlook Must demonstrate effective communication skills.
