Full Job Description Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to fill the role of Project Impact Student Advocate located in a middle or high school setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting student well-being, fostering a positive school environment, and providing students with attendance (truancy), academic, and behavioral support. The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate for students and families and will be committed to making a positive impact on their lives.Duties:
Consistently review and monitor daily attendance (truancy) reports. Closely monitor the progress of each caseload student for whom case management is being provided. Address barriers to student achievement by providing ongoing interventions and support as needed and report progress towards goals to the student and the Guidance Dean. Maintain and monitor weekly, a database to track attendance, grades and behavior referrals of assigned caseload students using the district #186 intranet system. Provide written progress monitoring information to school administration and supervisor monthly. Communicate and check-in with school administration and teachers to assist students and families with community outreach as needed. Maintain ongoing communication with parents and caseload students. Work closely with and maintain open and consistent communication with building administration. Submit monthly data reports via designated system by the 5 of each month. Maintain documentation and daily record of communication and action steps regarding student absences, behavior, and grades. Maintain documentation and record of daily student/parent communication for all targeted/caseload students. Input daily parent communication as documentation of outreach using the district #186 intranet system. Attend and meet with designated school level teams to gather, input, and share data of assigned caseload students. Participate in other school events to meet and establish rapport with students and parents. Encourage and engage parents/guardians in the student's learning experiences through regular phone calls, meetings, and home visits. Collaborate with students and families in establishing and writing the Success Plan, which include goal setting. Maintain ongoing records of all contacts with targeted/caseload students, their families, and/or other related personnel.Qualifications:
Must have a PEL or Substitute License Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling Ability to perform all job-related functions. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to completes tasks with minimal supervision. Communicate and maintain a good working relationship with principals, guidance dean's, teachers, parents/guardians, students, and community agencies. Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and parents from a variety of racial, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to remain calm and non-confrontational with staff, students, and families in crisis. Possess strong organizational skills. Possess extensive experience in working with at-risk students and families. Possess strong problem-solving skills. Possess extensive experience in working with community agencies in providing support networks to assist at-risk students and families. Possess background knowledge of and experience working in the public school system. Possess background knowledge of and experience in implementation of intervention strategies. Willingness to attend professional development trainings.Job Type:
