Job Description

Adjunct Instructor/Lecturer School of Social Work The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) School of Social Work is a freestanding unit renowned for its achievements in research, teaching, and community engagement. The School is committed to developing and disseminating knowledge for practice, developing responsive social welfare programs, and promoting social and economic justice. Our BSW and MSW degree programs prepare students for social work practice in public and private agencies, in the areas of mental health, health care, children and family services, public school settings, and leadership and social change, and students gain knowledge and skills to work with individuals, groups, communities, organizations, and policy in these areas. The School of Social Work is accepting applications for adjunct instructors and lecturers who are qualified to teach in targeted areas below. The greatest need is for instructors able to teach on campus in Urbana during daytime hours, with occasional need for online instructors with specific research or policy expertise. Ideal candidates will have strong familiarity with Canvas, an online learning platform. Each area has different requirements to be eligible to teach.                                   Required Education and Experience:
                                  Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or higher; a graduate degree in a closely related field may be considered for teaching non-practice courses such as research, policy, and law. Professional, applied expertise in the curricular area is expected. PEL license is required to teach the School Social Work courses.
                                  Preferred Experience:
                                  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) with LSW or LCSW preferred.
                                  • Prior experience teaching and/or leading substantive training events in person and/or online.
                                  • Familiarity with Canvas or other online learning management systems.
                                  • Post-master's professional experience of 3 years or more; 5 years or more preferred.
                                  • Familiarity with Illinois policies, laws, practice contexts, and social services infrastructure.
