Jun 15, 2026 Job Description PURPOSE The Middle School Multilingual Coordinator leads and supports high-quality multilingual learner (ML) and world language (WL) programming at the middle school level by providing instructional guidance, professional learning, and cross-department collaboration. This role works closely with high school ML teachers, administrators, counselors, and district teams to implement effective service models, support academic language development, and ensure alignment with graduation pathways, scheduling, and post-secondary readiness. The Coordinator uses student data to support instructional improvement and intervention planning, assists schools experiencing academic or compliance challenges, and strengthens collaborative practices between ML and content-area educators.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred (from an accredited college or university)
  • Current MLL certification through an accredited university/college
  • 3 years of MLL work experience in the classroom or district setting
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
ML Programming & Instruction
  • Lead the adoption, alignment, and implementation of multilingual learner and world language curriculum and development of instructional resources at the middle school level
  • Provide direct support and coaching to middle school ML teachers and instructional personnel
  • Assist with implementation of middle school ML programming and service models (sheltered content courses, co-teaching structures, adopted curriculum, newcomer programming, scheduling guidance, etc.)
  • Provide professional learning on secondary language acquisition strategies, academic language development, and culturally responsive practice
  • Support collaborative structures between ML staff and general education/content area teachers Family & Community Engagement
  • Support middle school family communication and engagement related to student learning, language development, and school expectations
  • Assist with ML family engagement events, workshops, and orientations as needed Student Support & Advocacy
  • Advocate for ML students in collaboration with teachers, specialists, administrators, and support staff
  • Collaborate closely with district departments, including curriculum, special education, and assessment
  • Train and support elementary administrators and instructional staff on service models, placement, and program expectations Compliance, Data & Documentation
  • Assist ML teachers and school teams with compliance-related practices, including implementation and documentation of Individual Language Plans (ILPs), monitoring of recently exited ML students, Additional Evidence Review, alignment of instructional programming and service delivery, and identification of potential compliance concerns.
  • Provide support for schools demonstrating academic or compliance challenges
  • Assist in analyzing WIDA growth, ACCESS results, and academic performance
  • Identify and escalate compliance concerns to the ML Director WIDA Testing
  • Assist with preparation and organization of WIDA testing materials, schedules, and logistics as directed by the director
  • Reinforce district trainings by providing follow-up support, clarifications, and resources to school-based staff
  • Provide on-site support during testing windows as needed Multilingual Proficiency Testing (Languages Other Than English)
  • Serve as the district lead for middle school multilingual proficiency testing in languages other than English, including identification and selection of eligible students.
  • Coordinate preparation and administration of approved proficiency assessments, including communication and guidance for test administrators.
  • Oversee collection, verification, and documentation of assessment results.
  • Prepare credit request forms
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.

                Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to twenty-five (25) pounds or more.
                  Outdoor Work:
                  Tolerance of work outside in various weather conditions.
                    Working Conditions:
                    School-based assignments with possible travel between buildings. Frequent Interactions with students with significant behavioral needs. May involve supporting students in crisis situations in accordance with FWCS guidelines. FWCS will reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
