The Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary team committed to supporting the rehabilitation, well-being, and successful reentry of incarcerated women. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Certified Social Worker (CSW) plus: A master's degree in social work.

NOTE:

Permanent status will not be granted in this job title without LMSW or LCSW licensure in Louisiana; Certified Social Worker (CSW) credential will not be accepted for granting permanent status. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:

Provide Individual and Group Therapy — Deliver evidence-based therapeutic services to individuals and groups, addressing mental health needs, trauma histories, behavioral challenges, and personal development goals. Facilitate structured programming that promotes emotional regulation, resilience, healthy relationships, and successful reentry. Develop Comprehensive Treatment Plans — Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and collaborate with inmates to create individualized treatment plans that identify needs, set measurable goals, and outline appropriate interventions. Monitor progress, adjust plans as needed, and ensure documentation meets clinical and departmental standards. Evaluate New Commitments and Determine Initial Needs — Complete intake assessments for newly admitted individuals, identifying immediate mental health concerns, risk factors, protective factors, and service needs. Make informed recommendations for housing, programming, crisis intervention, and ongoing clinical support to promote safety and stability. Coordinate Multidisciplinary Care — Work closely with mental health staff, medical providers, correctional officers, case managers, and community partners to ensure continuity of care and integrated service delivery. Crisis Intervention and Support — Respond to mental health crises, conduct suicide risk assessments, and implement appropriate interventions to ensure safety and stabilization. Maintain Accurate Clinical Documentation — Prepare timely, thorough, and confidential records in accordance with professional standards, facility policies, and state regulations. Support Reentry and Transition Planning — Assist individuals in preparing for release by connecting them with community resources, developing coping strategies, and addressing barriers to successful reintegration.

Appointment Type:

 PROBATION, or

PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Compensation:

 This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Social Worker 1 has an SER of $ 19.88 per hour Social Worker 2 has an SER of $ 21.27 per hour Social Worker 3 has an SER of $ 22.76 per hour
