Job Description

Camp Watitoh, a premier co-ed sleepaway camp in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, is searching for passionate applicants for our Wellness Specialist position for Summer 2026. The Wellness Specialist works closely with other members of our leadership team to support the emotional wellbeing of our campers and staff throughout the summer. Candidates should have training in psychology, social work, or education and experience with group and behavioral management practices. This is a great opportunity for someone who is a school social worker, graduate degree students, or youth development professionals looking for a change of pace during the summer. Responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to: Attendance and participation at weekly and daily meetings; Collaborate with Camp Leadership to review camper/staff files to gather and document any relevant psychological, behavioral, or medical information before campers/staff arrive; Work with Head Counselors to create weekly plan for camper emotional wellbeing; Consult with counselors and Head Counselors discuss specific camper/staff challenges; Review camper and staff check-in sheets to "keep a pulse" on camper emotional and physical health, cabin social dynamics, and overall wellbeing. Consistently communicate and follow-up with camp leadership and counselors regarding specific camper/staff care issues or concerns; Maintain availability via walkie-talkie communication throughout the day for urgent camper/staff care needs and interventions; Document all relevant information (includes counselor, Head Counselor, or other staff interventions, parent consultation via phone and/or email, contact with infirmary, etc.) Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and guidelines related to care, confidentiality, and ethics.

$2,000.00 - $3,000.00 per year
