Job Description

Are you passionate about working with children and creating a positive, engaging environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive? The Hockomock Area YMCA is seeking enthusiastic and dependable School Age Group Leaders to join our team at the Franklin Charter School Before and After School Program. As a Group Leader, you will play an important role in providing a safe, supportive, and fun environment for elementary-age children. You will help implement daily activities, supervise participants, and foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
Program Hours Before School Care:
7:00 AM - 8:45
AM After School Care:
3:15 PM - 6:00 PM Essential Functions Assist in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities, games, and enrichment opportunities. Participate in all aspects of the daily program schedule, including: Snack preparation and cleanup Structured activities and programming Indoor and outdoor recreation Setup and cleanup of program spaces Provide active supervision and guidance to children, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. Build positive relationships with participants and encourage social, emotional, and personal growth. Utilize positive behavior management and redirection techniques. Communicate effectively with the Site Director regarding participant needs, concerns, or incidents. Follow all YMCA policies, health and safety procedures, and EEC regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program environment. Demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude when interacting with children, families, school personnel, and fellow staff. Must be at least 16 years of age. Prior experience working with school-age children preferred. Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple responsibilities. Strong work ethic with excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and accept responsibility. Demonstrated commitment to the mission, values, and goals of the YMCA, with the ability to represent and communicate them positively to children, families, and colleagues. Reliable, dependable, and committed to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for all participants. First Aid and CPR certification required within the first 30 days of employment. Must meet all YMCA and EEC requirements for employment.
