Job Description

The Itsy Bitsy Child Watch (IBCW) Classroom Coordinator is a grant funded position that serves as a full-time early childhood educator in a Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) approved child care program at Holyoke Community College (HCC). The Classroom Coordinator must be a responsible, independent worker with experience maintaining a high-quality educational, healthy and safe environment for children ranging in age from 3 months - 12 years old. The Classroom Coordinator plans and implements daily routines and activities, and supports program administrators in daily operations. The program's schedule each semester is adjusted to meet the needs of the students including some evenings as needed. Classroom Coordinator will need to be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program. Create and actively promote a comfortable and welcoming environment where all families from diverse cultures and backgrounds, every student, and employee are treated with dignity and respect, in a friendly, personalized manner; Ensure safe, healthy and quality experiences for children and families; Plan and implement high-quality developmentally appropriate activities for children; Provide personal care of children, including diapering, hand washing, basic first aid and other tasks as necessary for the health and wellbeing of the children; Guide work-study students to ensure positive interactions between program staff and children; Light cleaning of the classroom, vacuuming, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces, toys and materials; Responsible for oversight of classroom operations when Director and Assistant Director are not present; Work a flexible schedule, including evenings as necessary; Understand daily operational systems; Maintain knowledge of program policies and procedures pertaining to registration, enrollment, and scheduling in order to provide information to program participants; Support program administrators to ensure the program meets state and college regulations; Support program administrators to collaborate with various HCC departments and college activities to recruit participants; Any other duties assigned or required by the program administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 12 credits and two years of experience in early education and care, family child care or out-of-school time programs; Meets minimum requirements for EEC lead teacher; Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings; Outstanding time management and multi-tasking abilities, with first-rate attention to detail; Strong organizational skills, including computer and technology proficiency, including experience with Google Suite; Provide current CPR/First Aid certification or completion upon hire; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Pass the EEC Background check (CORI/SORI/Fingerprinting).

Preferred Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Early Education and Care or related field; Five years experience working in early education and care or family child care; Experience supervising education professionals; Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish preferred.
Full-time, Non-Unit Professional Position:
Salary Range:
$43,704.96 - $54,631.20/year (Grade 2); plus a comprehensive State benefits package.
Hours:
37.5 hrs./week - 48-week position.
