Summary/Objective:
The Social Worker provides therapeutic support services to students and their families. Responsible for formulating preventative and crisis-oriented treatment plans, making referrals for treatment outside of school setting, acts as liaison between school, teachers and home, and coordinates programs to meet educational/social needs of students.
Essential Functions/Duties:
Students:
Provides direct therapeutic support services to students and their families. Formulates preventative and crisis-oriented treatment plans. Make referrals for treatment outside of school and assist families with the process. Acts as liaison between school and agency to which referral was made. Participates as an advocate in student related meetings as needed and appropriate.
Families:
Provides direct support to parents completing applications for various agencies and other support services providers.
Staff:
Coordinates programs to meet educational/social needs of students. Provides liaison between teachers and home. Provides training regarding current laws and regulations related to student safety and transition needs. Assists in the development of curriculum and in-service programs. Conducts classroom observations and provides direct consultation to teachers in the interest of problem solving social, emotional, and behavioral problems in their classroom.
Competency:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Skills required to perform responsibilities effectively. Working knowledge of abuse/neglect laws. Working knowledge of social service networks; local and state-wide. Ability to address psychological/social needs of children and their families. Ability to provide case management and clinical support as needed. •Rate/Salary is determined by educational degree and years of experience.
